Lakeside beauty

So we woke up in the morning, feeling very tired from the long previous day. Luckily I had found out the night before that breakfast was included in our cheap room price which we were pleasantly surprised about. And man it was a nice breakfast. Bacon, eggs, fruits, yogurts, fresh bread and most important of all, Nutella. How can you start the day without that? The view was also incredible, we were sitting right at the lake with views all around the water and mountains. We didn't want to leave the buffet but we were so stuffed and had to check out so we got up and went to the room to pack our stuff and leave the hotel. After getting some nice tips at the front desk we hopped in our Hyundai and drove to the nearby town called Limone sul Garda (in english = lemon by the lake) and went to have a look around. We left the car behind in a parking garage in the town center and started walking along the lakeside. The town was rather small but beautiful, very old looking and authentic which was nice. After walking for a few minutes we bumped into this small stand at the waterfront where you could hire a motorboat and we went to have a look. It was Linneas idea to go since I thought it was going to be expensive, but we were positively surprised and even got a small discount. So we ended up renting a motorboat for an hour for only 55€ to go and cruise around the lake. How cool is that! The boat was a little black motorboat with Monster energy drink stickers all around and a nice 40hp engine on it.

So we headed out to the open waters and were stunned by the views. The beautifully coloured lake and mountains in each direction you were looking at. After exiting the harbour area we were free to go full speed and head down to the lake. We got some tips from the guy at the stand and headed southbound to see a waterfall and a castle located on the other side of the lake. The sights were done in about half an hour and the remaining time we used to fool around. The lake was kinda calm with no waves so we had to make our own and hunt some coming from the bigger boats. We found a few big ones which made us go crazy and our bums to jump off the seats . So much fun, we had a blast! When our full hour of fun was coming to an end we headed back to the harbour and returned the boat. We would definitely do it again!

After this hair blasting mindblowingly awesome boat ride we were a bit hungry since lunchtime had already passed a few hours ago so we headed out to hunt for some cheap food. We found a nice take-away pizza place and obviously bought some pizza. A few slices and a nice big chunk of tiramisu were gonna keep us full until dinner. We took the food out and went to sit by the lake since it was way nicer than the restaurant itself . The town was rather small and seen so we jumped in our Hyundai and drove off into the mountains leaving this small piece of lakeside paradise behind.

After driving for an hour or so we bumped into a nice looking playground by accident since we were looking for fuel but there was no gas station even though Google maps claimed there was one. There was this cool slide over which we got super excited and were filming all kinds of videos with our GoPro while the Italian moms were giving us a bad look. After fooling around for a while it was time to move on again to the next destination which was going to be Innsbruck on the Austrian side of the Alps.

Lake Garda is such a beautiful place and we do recommend you to visit it. Our accommodation was rather cheap (44€/night including breakfast) so you don't need to spend too much money to spend some time there. You should do some water sports on the lake since there are so many options available.

Cheers,
Arno
